Choosing the Right Network Marketing
Opportunity For You
Network marketing, also called
multilevel marketing (NM/MLM), is a direct selling system in which you sell a
product for a commission, but also recruit others to sell it. The trade-off for
recruiting is that you will receive a percentage of the commissions of each
person you recruit.
If you're the sort of person who
loves working with people, who is a self-starter, and who is motivated to make
real money, multilevel marketing income opportunities may be perfect for you.
It's not an easy business, but it can be a very lucrative one for smart workers.
Providing you are not familiar with the guidelines as how to
recognize network marketing opportunities and how to pick the right one for
yourself, refer to my extensive report with 7 Foundation Blocks. I’d spend way
over $10,000.00 in just one year alone joining many companies, using their
product, service and most of all their studying their Compensation Plans. So far
only half a dozen passed my qualifications and would deserve my name and my
reputation to be attached to their business opportunity. Remember, these
company’s commercial success solely depends on YOU, the distributor, hence you
have to stand for something or you will fall for anything.
Success in Network
Marketing
The key to success in NM/MLM is
choosing the correct network for you. Investigate it thoroughly - many are
scams. This is unfortunate, but true. This means it's wise to check every single
NM/MLM opportunity you come across thoroughly online. Find out what's been said
about it, and rule out the ones that seem to have extremes - lots of people
complaining and lots of people singing its praises. Instead, look for the ones
that have a few complaints, a few people who say it didn't work for them, and
only a few who rave about its glories. Why? Because the real dogs in this
industry pay people to give them great reviews.
Besides this, check out the
NM/MLM contracts and restrictions carefully before you get into them. Do you
have to buy a lot of product before selling? Or can you just sell online, and
let your company ship to your customers? What limitations are there on selling
online? Knowing these things before you go in can prevent you from making a
costly mistake.
Ask yourself if you are
passionate about this product. If you've never tried the item you're going to be
selling, how can you possibly sell it convincingly? Don't believe anyone who
tells you that your product sells itself, that you don't have to try it, that
they know how good it is - in fact, run away from these "opportunities."
Instead, try it and determine for yourself how good it is. Only if you can
communicate your true passion about a product will you be successful with its
network marketing.
Do you have a market to sell it to? Often, promoters of
network marketing pooh-pooh this concern, telling you that your real money will
come from your "downstream," the people you bring into the NM/MLM fold. Don't
believe it. For the people at the top, this is true. But the further down you
go, the less likely this is. This particular promotional bent, in fact, is
probably why so many people confuse NM/MLM with illegal Ponzi or pyramid
schemes
Network Marketing You Can Understand:
Let's explore network marketing as kind of a game. An individual, let's
call him Charlie, is contemplating starting a home based business and
concludes that his primary monetization approach, because of its high
income potential, should be through NM.
Which NM company should Charlie join? There are thousands
of companies distributing their products or services by the means
of NM or Multi Level Marketing (MLM). Some well known companies such as
Gillette, AT&T, Microsoft, Colgate, Allianz, Citibank, MCI, Toyota,
Xerox, Texas Instruments, General Motors, American Skandia, AOL, General
Electric, Netscape, Oracle, Royal Bank of Canada, IBM, Sun Microsystems,
Skytel, Coca Cola, Pacific Life, or their immediate subsidiaries, distribute some of their products and/or
services by via NM.
The better known names connected with NM are MonaVie, TriVita, Avon, Vemma,
Shaklee, etc. So, first of all Charlie will have to look at the products
or services of all such companies in which he may have an interest and,
to himself, honestly answer the following question:
"If there was no business opportunity attached to this
product/service would I still diligently use it?"
If the answer is NO, then Charlie MUST move on until he finds the
product/service he can answer an excited YES to. NM most of all is
about duplication and the law of attraction. And the absence of either
these essential NM success elements eventually will doom his enterprise.
When
Charlie finds product(s)/service(s) he personally can get excited about
and use on regular basis he can move to the next step. He now needs to
evaluate the company that may have the privilege to use his name,
reputation, skills, knowledge and experience, perhaps for a very long
time into the future.
There are Seven Foundation Blocks a network
marketing company
must have to earn Charlie's dedicated efforts.
Network Marketing Foundation Block # 1.
The
right reusable product/service not available in stores or offices,
directly shipped or provided to your customer:
in NM venture we do not want to warehouse nor do we want to ship,
deliver or collect money. We just want to dedicate all our efforts to
marketing, which will effectively turn into sales and a solid downline
(his network team).
Network Marketing Foundation Block # 2.
The right timing:
product must be appealing to or be needed by vast majority of population
in countries where it is sold or it should at least have very lucrative
and most of all affluent target market. Good example being so called
Baby Boomers. Of course the very best is a
Purple Cow,
a product that is consumed on monthly basis by all, from one year olds
to 99+, of both sexes and all religions.
Network Marketing Foundation Block # 3.
Right
management with your own already successful mentor:
the company must have a
management that has a strong background in the NM industry. Charlie does
not want to join any company that is using NM only for its distribution
benefits. Charlie also needs to find/seek a sponsor who has been with
the company for at least one full year, is involved on full time
basis, and most importantly, has a proven, duplicable and
effective MARKETING PLAN in place.
Any
sponsor who tells Charlie to make a list of his friends and family members, and
everybody else who said hello to him in the last 15 years, is in today’s world
simply said, a marketing moron who has not heard of the Internet yet.
Click here to read what other successful worldwide
marketers have to say about that.
Simply put --- Charlie needs
to be mentored by an individual who is already achieving, preferably
already exceeding, what Charlie wants to accomplish in his own business, with a
duplicable Marketing Plan, In other words, he needs a sponsor/mentor who know
how to work SMART, not hard.
Network Marketing
Foundation Block # 4.
The company being in its current business for at least 3
to 5 years:
this is very important because Charlie knows he has to
stay away from any Pre-launch or so called Ground Floor Opportunity
deals unless he has a strong base of people to bring
with him. This new Company has to stand the test of time, product
acceptance and financing. Charlie knows that he has to stay away from
the companies that just started, claiming to be backed by a 30, 50, 100
years old corporation listed on New York Stock Exchange, for he knows very
well that backing will be there ONLY when company makes money. Lacking
that, backing will be gone over night because this NM company was open
specifically for the purpose of making money for shareholders. It was
not started to benefit the distributors, or even the company in the long
term. The venture was designed strictly for the shareholders. There of
course is nothing wrong with that because Charlie is also a shareholder
in a number of companies as a part of his own diversified mix of
monetization approaches. However, with this particular NM company his
goals is to build the business of his own. For that reason he knows he
must look elsewhere.
Network Marketing
Foundation Block # 5.
The right Compensation
Plan (CP):
a very important element in
evaluating the opportunity because that's where the money is. Is
the CP so complicated that Charlie cannot easily explain it to others?
Too many questions will be raised and his potential prospects will not
have the patience to learn or listen. They want to know in very simple
terms how they will get paid. Period!
And one more very important question Charlie must ask:
When I stop sponsoring new people into my business, for let's say 1 year
or so because I want to reward myself by going around the World on a
cruise ship, will the residual income stop? If the answer is YES,
Charlie should not just run, but he should immediately jump on his
horse, or in his car and escape from such a company at full speed. Such
a Company is NOT dedicated to helping you build your business - it
is about using you for recruiting, recruiting, and recruiting.
There is much more to compensation plans and if you ask
10 people you'll get 10 different opinions about the same CP. However
Charlie knows what is best for him. Most of all he wants to build
streams of steady, residual incomes so he will be paid for his invested
time, energy and applied skills long after he is not directly involved
in his business. Who would want to work until retirement age only to
find out he can not retire? Besides that, for Charlie retirement does
not mean aging to 65, then doing nothing until death. To Charlie
retirement means --- Doing what Charlie wants to do, when Charlie
wants to do it, and have plenty of time and plenty of money to do it!
And that is why Charlie is not seeking a job and wants to start his own
Home Based Business.
Network Marketing
Foundation Block # 6.
The Right
Cause and Mission:
the company must have a worthy mission. Assessment of "worthiness" will,
of course, vary from one individual to another. But, because Charlie
loves children, and he dedicates a lot of time to their well being he
wants to see a certain percentage of his company profits to go toward a
good cause. Not necessarily a charity, not hand-outs but head-ups
instead, like an education, for
Charlie strongly believes in his motto: "Give a man a fish and you
feed him for a day, teach him how to fish and you feed him for life,
teach him how to teach his CHILDREN to fish and you will end the World
hunger and all wars." Charlie is a future builder and for that
reason he will seek a company that builds the future for generations to
come. With mission like this Charlie will attract the same quality
people who will have the purpose higher than just money and will stick
with him in the business through thick and thin because of a strong
relationship build on granite foundation.
Network Marketing
Foundation Block # 7.
Company must
NOT be publicly traded:
again if Charlie was an investor he would love to seek company like
that, however in publicly traded company Charlie (being and investor
himself) knows that every dollar thanks to his efforts brought to
the company will have to be re-distributed according to the most important
interests.
a) All the shareholders will have to be paid first
and the most, for if they are not, they will take their money
elsewhere, price of company stock will go down .....
b) Everybody in corporate management must be paid,
after all they run the company with the greatest part of
responsibility to investors on their shoulders, all of the CEOs,
CFOs and UFOs and their secretaries must be paid ...
c)
Next General Managers, Regional Managers, District Managers, Local
Managers, Office Managers, Hall Managers, Stairway Managers,
Downstairs and Upstairs Managers, their company cars and vacation
packages etc. ....
d) And of course Charlie would get some money too if
he did not know better in the first place and happened to volunteer
to stay on the very bottom of this legal pyramid. Charlie is NOT
staying.
Our character Charlie is smart, he knows how to evaluate
a network marketing company that will gain the privilege to have his services,
knowledge, experience and dedication to its disposition perhaps for many
years. He knows he is the most important part of the network marketing company
structure.
Finally Charlie
found the company with all 7 Foundation Blocks in place. It took some time and due diligence, nonetheless time well spent, for if
just one foundation block was missing Charlie knew he would be setting
himself up for failure with that particular company.
Now Charlie has some homework to do to chart out and
pursue his goal to achieve financial independence in 2 years or less.
His sponsor, and now personal coach and mentor, did it in 18 months so Charlie is going to be coached by
him. Charlie is also confident about his future earnings even though he
knows there are no guaranties of any kind, but that the compensation
plan of this
company will bring him good income within 6 to 8 months or less and he
knows that his downline can consist of just a few hundred repeat customers to
replace hs current monthly income. His customer
base will be spreading to some dozen countries so his next step
is to prepare his marketing strategy according to a Blue Print outlined
by his sponsor.
Further, Charlie knows that his sponsor joined this
company just like Charlie did. He is NOT a partner in this company, he
is NOT a famous football star, neither MLM nor NM guru, and of course he
is NOT a shareholder or any part of the company's management. He has the
success of those he sponsors as his ultimate
interest.
